Logic School
Grades 7-8
This stage centers around the development of a child in the pre-teen to early teenage years. Children in this phase love to ask “Why?”, and they also love to argue their point. We lean into this God-given development and help students understand how facts come together, how things work, and how to effectively communicate what they have learned. We also focus heavily on prayer, and scriptural wisdom so each child has an opportunity to develop a solid Biblical foundation.
CORE COURSES
Each grade consists of English, Math, Science, Bible, Debate, and History/Geography.
COMMUNICATION
Each class focuses on using the Socratic Method of discussion and teaches students how to brainstorm, organize ideas, and present well. Students also complete an end-of-year project with a presentation.
ELECTIVES
Our students have an opportunity to participate in electives once a week that complement their interests.
ASSESSMENT
Unlike traditional schools, our Logic-aged students graduate from progress reports into essay assessments. Our students receive some standard grades in some subjects like math but also use the essay assessment to truly gauge what they have learned about a subject and the skill they are developing to communicate it. Students also participate in self-assessment to learn and grow in ownership, responsibility, and self-discipline.
CURRICULUM
Generations Academy Logic School utilizes curriculum from Lost Tools of Writing, Bob Jones, Analytical Grammar, Apologia, Shormann, and more!
